The Season of Timeless Travels has arrived in Pokémon Go! The Along the Routes event is here, bringing Gift Exchange and the A Route to New Friendships quest with it. During it, take the time to try out Routes and Party Play while you're hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

What else do you need to know about the Buddy Up event in Pokémon Go?

As the name Buddy Up event suggests, this event in Pokémon Go is all about becoming better friends with your Pokémon buddy and there are multiple bonuses to help you achieve this goal.

This doubling the time your buddy will stay on the map and halving the distance it takes for you to receive both hearts and candy. It's also easier for your buddy to become excited and they are more likely to bring your souvenirs or gifts.

All of this will help grow closer to your buddy Pokémon and that special Best Buddy ribbon.

On top of all these buddy bonuses, you will also receive double evolution XP throughout the event.

Aside from the buddy bonuses, the main reason to take part in the Buddy Up event in Pokémon Go is that both Volbeat and Illumise can be caught anywhere across the world.

Usually both of these Pokémon can only be found in specific regions; Europe, Asia and Oceania for Volbeat and the Americas and Africa for Illumise. Thanks to the Buddy Up event, these two bug-type Pokémon have managed to spread their wings, allowing everyone to add a rare regional exclusive Pokémon to their Pokédex.

If you're really lucky, then you might find a shiny Volbeat or Illumise.

Volbeat and Illumise are usually regional exclusive Pokémon.

The spawn rates for Alolan Meowth, Chansey, Eevee, Feebas, Joltik and Woobat have also been increased. This means that you have the chance to add some more rare Pokémon to your Pokédex and, in the case of Chansey, train a powerful gym defender.

Finally, the following Pokémon are more likely to hatch from 5km eggs throughout this event:

  • Alolan Meowth
  • Eevee
  • Volbeat
  • Illumise
  • Feebas
  • Lillipup
  • Joltik

Good luck with the Buddy Up event!
